Dual AMD Opteron processor based Thunder K8S (S2880) solution validated by AMD - AMD Recommends the Thunder K8S (S2880) Server Solution
Fremont, CA, June 13th, 2003 - AMD has recently announced the validation of the Tyan
Thunder K8S (S2880), a dual AMD Opteron processor based server platform. Through rigorous testing, AMD has evaluated the Thunder K8S (S2880) as
providing users a high degree of reliability, usability, and performance. AMD fully supports the solution and has listed it on its "AMD Opteron Processor Recommended Motherboards" list.
The Thunder
K8S (S2880) is a powerful and unique solution for rackmount and pedestal servers. It optimizes the AMD Opteron processor's key features, such as 64-bit CPU processing coupled to an integrated memory
controller to reduce memory and front side bus bottlenecks. The Thunder K8S (S2880) is also the first dual AMD Opteron processor platform that offers both Serial ATA and SCSI options for high storage
capabilities, while dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports heighten network connectivity and bandwidth on a PCI-X bus.
The Thunder K8S (S2880) is currently shipping in volume.
